Areca Palms - pslamont - 04-12-2008 I found a source for Areca Palm for only $5 each pot... and each pot has a bundle of 5 to 8 palms. They are incredibly root bound so only good deal if they are going in the ground right away. I planted six last weekend and they are still alive! Yay... I bought 20 more and planted six more today. We have a made a four to five foot tall "basket" of fencing material around each one to protect it from the sheep, goats and other critters. Goodness know they have munched ever branch they can pull through the fencing. Still, I think they will make it so I am hopeful. Hubby is out cutting down wiwi to make the posts to hold the baskets in place. I am hiding out inside drinking iced tea... because even though people call it "gloomwood" up here, the sun is shining and it is hot hot hot for working. I should have stayed with the hydroponics in the shade house plan but these palms really need to get in the ground. Okay, so I have 14 to go... but not today! Just another day in P A R A D I S E !! |
