Wanted Avocado & Papaya - Larry T - 04-28-2008

I think JWFITZ has a great idea with this garden coop. I buy Avocados and papaya all the time and would buy from the growers if I had the chance. I live in HPP and would pick them up if close by. I have them planted so I hope this is not long term, and in fact I may become part of the coop.

I planted grafted avocados and I think it will be 3-6 years before I don't have to buy more.

Larry -

I'll email you when I get back on the island soon. My ohana literally has so many avocados that we feed them to the pigs at times.

No need buy them... you can figure something out down the line to barter with.

Stillhope -

The thought of digging up one of these avocado trees frightens me. It would take more then just a shovel.

Anyone else like trade avocodos in the future?

Damon, If your avos are ripe at a different time than ours, I'd be delighted to figure out a trade. We're really missing our avocados right now...

Our tree is four or five years old and I see the very first fruiting of avocados happening now!! They are the size of grapes...we're gonna have AVOS!!

Sounds good. I guess I got two people I will need to get a hold of.

It is amazing how big these suckers get here in Hawaii.

man, i wish i could have some of those!

so anyway, mom's hospice nurse and her husband had to pull out a 15ft tall avocado tree because ants had nested in it thus destroying some of the roots. they needed rope and a truck to get it down. i think stillhope was referring to trees that are much smaller.

malia paha o lohe aku

perhaps they will hear

Does any one have a Avocado tree they are going to pull out? Bigger than small but smaller than big. You know a old man has to dig it out and move it. Do they have a large main TAP root?
