What plants do well at the 1000' level? - EightFingers - 05-30-2008

What's a good way to find out what grows well at this level. I know Ohia trees do since we have several hundred! Our land is just south of Leilani at the 1039' elevetion. Not on the island now, but will be in five years and wondered if there is something we can get started now.

I'm in Leilani at about 950'. Most plants & trees thrive up here except ones that don't like the wet. Plants like mango, plumeria, bougainvillea sulk or drown out. You can plant your fruit trees now and they would be producing by the time you move over IF you can keep up on weeding and maintaince. The rainforest can swallow up all your efforts in short order.
