I'd like to start buying things from people off Punaweb instead of the stores or Makuu Farmers Market (nothing against the Farmers Market...just looking to support Punawebbers first)

I like it Damon. We will be selling eggs in about a month. We will have lettuce probably in two weeks. However, for a steady supply we won't probably be up and running until September. I like this idea though. We all support one another in so many ways and this is just another part of what punaweb is about.

What kind of eggs, Pam? Are they purebred? Are they fertile?
We sell mostly khaki Campbell ducklings ($7 each) and mixed barnyard breed chicks ($5 each) but we've generally only had about four dozen a month to sell. We are hoping to double that amount soon and to be able to get purebred and fertile eggs to set but so far we haven't been able to find a good source for eggs. We did find some purebred eggs but the fertility rate was around 11%. Not too good to get six chicks after setting forty eggs and paying a premium for "fertile" eggs. Once our hens and roosters mature we should be able to set purebred eggs with a higher hatch rate.

I have not checked fertility since I got rid of my jungle fowl roosters and have only the three Rhode Island Reds. Once I am back on island I hope to finish the chicken enclosure that my young handyman has abandoned... guess he was too good to be true! We will let them breed and when I return from Thailand the end of August we will make a hatchery. Then I will have pure breed Rhode Island Red pullets for sale. My hens are all purebred that came out of the Waimea egg farm a year ago... so they are 3 years old. Their production is lower than one to two year olds but still good.
Contact me by September 1 and I will be happy to sell at very reasonable prices pullets. It is best for everyone to be able to sex them so you get what you are looking for. I keep my rooster population pretty thin. Plenty poor people want chicken to bbq. I don't like to slaughter and clean them but I am told that by peeling the skin off instead of plucking them, it is fast.... so if in 4 months anyone wants eating chicken/roosters.... we'll have 'em! Sounds like a BBQ ready to happen.
