Doctors - PunaCat - 06-05-2006 I'm trying to find a new doc, that falls within the parameters of our insurance (I'm lovin' that, let me tell you!). Has anyone any scoop on a Dr. Rosalia Conrad?? Mahalo, Cat RE: Doctors - macuu222 - 06-05-2006 We've given up on doctors in Hilo. Most of the good ones just won't take new patients and the ones that "will" see you tend to be registered nurses that are really unqualified for complicated medical problems. We did find a place in Hoonaka called the Hamakua Health Center with doctors that are taking new patients. They are very professional and have state of the art equipment to diagnose and treat many types of health problems. They also take just about every kind of insurance. The down side is they are more expensive. They charge higher than the "usual and customary" charges set by most insurance companies for our area. RE: Doctors - PunaCat - 06-09-2006 Thanks for the insight. I just might bite the bullet and go to the Naturopathic Doc I want to go to - my insurance co won't recognize her, so I'd have to pay out of pocket. But I do not like being told who I can go to and who I can't. RE: Doctors - Robin C - 06-09-2006 Anyone know of a good chiroprator near Keau/Hilo? I'm in Volcano and have a neck/shoulder pain that has lasted a week. I had a great chiropractor in Oakland that could fix any pain but am a bit out of my element with the move. Mahalo for any help. PunaCat, I'm feeling your pain with the doc finding. Its been a struggle. Robin RE: Doctors - Les C - 06-10-2006 Robin, you might get in touch with Keaau Physical Therapy, 966-7478. Ned Shimabukuro, the PT there, is a good friend of mine, so I'm biased, but I hear that he's a very conscientious practioner. He should be able to direct you to a few local chiropractors. Les RE: Doctors - Les C - 06-11-2006 Robin, I just saw an ad in the Volcano Community Newsletter for a DC in Volcano, Dr. Scott Baston. If you prefer a female DC, he may be able to refer you, and I know that Ned S. knows female DCs. Good luck, Les RE: Doctors - Kapohocat - 06-11-2006 I've lived here a long time and still cant find a good doc that really understands ADHD (my SO is ADHD) - most at Keaau or Pahoa clinic scared to prescribe the appropriate drugs. Any one else out there with advice for this? ... in the local area... Giasolli @ Hamakua Health Center is good but Honokaa is too far to make a regular monthly trip to pick up prescription. -Cat RE: Doctors - HADave - 06-13-2006 finding a Dr anywhere is a challenge it seems today. More and more are not taking new patients and those that do sometimes take forever to really help you because they lack sufficient information regarding your issue/s. Some time back and I only just remembered using the service, I stumbled onto a site called Diagnose-Me.com. As it turned out it was a plethora of information that was eye opening and as I found out extremely helpful to the physician attendant at the local hospital express care. It is a series of questions regarding your current health status with opinions regarding severity of the situation and reccomendations to follow up with as well as detail reports to provide to your routine care provider Making his/her first diagnosis/treatment more on target. Well as it turned out the service is located there on The Big Island... Their address is Diagnose-Me.com P O Box 370 Laupahoehoe, Hi. 96764 There website with the questionaire is at http://www.diagnose-me.com/index.html very interesting stuff Aloha HADave Edited by - HADave on 06/13/2006 09:31:28 RE: Doctors - robguz - 06-13-2006 Robin, It's a bit of a drive, but Michael in Seaview is the most amazing chiropractor I have been to. My vacation there last month I arrived with 2 recenlty herniated disks and could barely walk hunched over in constant pain. Saw him 4 times in a week and was much better after the 2nd visit and was amazingly better after the 4th. He can be reached at 965-9569. Can you email me who your chiropractor was in Oakland, which is where I live? RE: Doctors - PunaCat - 06-18-2006 Robin, the Doc I've decided to go to gave me some recommendations for chiropractic care, which I thought I'd pass on to you... She says that Dr. Nagareda in HIlo is gentle, does touch release kind of work. Michael Reams, in Puna is also gentle and good. Dr. Leight Ay Yo is gentle at Hawaii Physical Therapy on Waenuenue, but her male partner there is not. This might just give you a few more options to check out. Good luck! I can always give you a most excellent, personal, recommendation for massage, too! PunaCat |
