Renewable Energy - abe - 11-07-2008 Saw this and thought I'd pass it on if anyone's interested. RE: Renewable Energy - abe - 11-07-2008 Oops forgot the link, here it is[:I] http://www.homemadeenergy.org/?hop=futuresoft RE: Renewable Energy - David M - 11-07-2008 abe you gonna let us know if it is really worth the $$$? David Ninole Resident RE: Renewable Energy - JWFITZ - 11-07-2008 Just beautiful. It's inspired me to make millions with a website selling a homeopathic cure for global warming. RE: Renewable Energy - Guest - 11-08-2008 The 1st and best source of "Homemade" energy is reduction of use and need. Then there is using sources like homemade clothes dryer (clothesline), Homemade water heater, Homemade rocket stove (see JWFITZ). for about 250 bucks you can buy a small chest freezer and add extra insulation and a thermostat to convert it to an ultra efficient refrigerator that uses way less than the expense Sunfrost brand. The number of ways to lessen your use of 'bought' energy is almost infinite. RE: Renewable Energy - abe - 11-08-2008 quote: Couldn't tell you. Just ran across it and thought i'd pass the info along. Just in case someone had actually used this before and had some feedback to share. RE: Renewable Energy - MarkP - 11-08-2008 This is nothing new or magical, just solar and wind power as far as I can tell. My parents had a windmill on their roof for a few years. First, it is a bad idea to have it attached to your house because it shakes the whole house. Second, we didn't have all that good a resource. The windmill was almost always turning but rarely made all that much power because the wind in that immediate area wasn't that strong or steady. Then sometimes the wind would really howl and you thought the windmill was going to rip off the roof. That was in central NY state, where it is cloudy all the time. Funny I should move half way around the world then buy property in Eden Roc where it is also cloudy and also without good wind resources. The million dollar question is whether you have good wind or solar resources. South Point and Upolu Point both have good wind. Nothing in between does. You can buy a windmill off the internet but you can't buy the wind. RE: Renewable Energy - JerryCarr - 11-08-2008 As I scrolled down the web page, I kept expecting Billy Mays to pop onto the screen with a pitch.[ ![]() Cheers, Jerry RE: Renewable Energy - David M - 11-08-2008 Being that we live totally off grid, always interested in learning. Have a rather sophisticated PV system and spent far too much for a 400 watt wind generator that wasn't worth the erection effort, let alone the costs. Guess I might take a somewhat jaded approach to these "low cost" promises. I suspect whatever info they are selling is available for free elsewhere.
