J. Yoshimoto selected for Council Chairman - Rob Tucker - 11-13-2008
J. Yoshimoto is a good choice for chairman of the county council. Being fairly conservative myself I had been rooting for Pete Hoffman in that position. Mr. Hoffman has done a very respectful and productive job as council chairman over the past couple years. He will serve well as vice chairman too.
From what I have been told the deliberations, led by Dominic Ygong, went smoothly and productively. The report is that it was a good experience all around.
Nice news.
Many of us are apprehensive about council support for the various community development plans. Having invested hundreds of hours each- many people want to see the CDP effort succeed.
Congratulations to Councilman Yoshimoto!

This outcome is certainly something I can live with.
J Yoshimoto, IMHO, is a stabilizing and positive influence in the Council.
Pete Hoffmann has done a good job as Chair and deserves credit.
J's and Pete's positions on some issues do not agree with mine, but that is the way it goes in politics.
What I do know is that they will always consider what I have to say and discuss their own position with me.
Compared to some other recent Chairs -- Arakaki, Safarik, Higa -- Yoshimoto is quite good!
