Can anyone tell me what the word "Lauhala" means? Thank you.

It is the word for hala leaf, like used for weaving.

Thanks Julie. We purchased several "Lauhala Baskets" from a friend of ours in Captain Cook and were curious as to what the word meant. Thanks again.

FYI, in many parts of the Pacific the tree is known as pandanus, and another name for it is screwpine.
