Journey coming to Big Island - macuu222 - 02-19-2009

Journey will be playing March 28th at Waikaloa! I know Steve Perry is gone...but from what I've heard..the new lead has an incredable likeness to Steve's.

As great a singer as Steve Perry is, Journey's new vocalist is phenomenal.

Should be a fantastic show.

I saw Journey with Steve Perry, then (much) later with Steve Augeri, who looked and sounded very much like Perry, I thought. I saw Jeff Scott Soto fronting the band (twice) around 2006. Soto didn't look or sound much like Perry, but he had a good voice and a lot of dynamic energy.

The new lead guy is Arnel Pineda, from the Philipino band "The Zoo".

It should go without saying that the YouTube video isn't Journey, it's "The Zoo".

Aloha! ;-)

It is always so sad to see bands carry on way past their prime. Realizing that to come to the big island means spending a lot of money for very little return only reinforces the notion that these guys are has beens that don't know how to let go. These guys used to fill stadiums.. now they are reduced to filling bars. It sure must be embarrassing for them to stand up there and act the fool.

Actually I think this one would give a better range of vocals for the new guy

Maybe they "carry on" for the love of playing music?

I see Journey (and other old famous bands still alive and kicking) as semi-retired guys staying busy and being productive. Why not spend your "retirement" doing something you love? Getting paid for it makes life that much sweeter.

One of the beautiful things about music is that unlike sports (for example), musicians tend to get better with age.

I'm not a big Journey fan, but it should be a fun gig.

Their Big hair, tights, and helium induced power ballads are one reason I abandoned rock and returned to listening to Jazz and Blues. I thank them for it.

I like Spinal Tap better, as their Amps go to eleven.

These guys don't do it for the money, they do it because they love what they do. Randy Jackson (American Idol) used to play bass in Journey, is he coming too?

How big is that Waikaloa venue?
