Guys be careful..yesterday I was at the hot ponds taking a swim in the later part of the day and I put my stuff under the lifeguard stand away from the rain and suddenly I noticed my stuff was gone. I went straight to my car because of course my keys where in there and stood by my car until I was able to have a friend comeback with another set. While waiting there at the parking lot..It turned out I was not the only one that had there stuff taken. Unfortunately two people were not quick enough and lost there cars. So if you go please be extra careful. Especially if Alexander, the vendor is not there. Just thought I'd spread the word..Aloha.

Glad your car was not taken. It sure would be interesting to hide a camera somewhere so they could catch these buggars doing this crap.

You are right, Everytime I have logged on and read the subjects I had to wonder what in the world is going on out there! It does seem like a zombie movie!
One thing that we found a problem, is that with the new keys, they are all electric and you cannot just stick them in your pocket while swimming. Even with a dry pouch I hesitate to "possibly" ruin a key.

I can see the benefit of secreting a camera somewhere. It would have to be hidden of course, and if done by the general public I can see problems with who owns the property, who maintains it, etc. It also is not a trivial task to monitor it. If detected, those who placed it would probably be threatened on some level. However, considering that what has just been described is a mini crime-wave, if a society really wants to combat such crime, it would be the way to go.

Or you could just get a plain car door key, they're not electronic, at least mine isn't. Leave your electronic ignition key hidden in the car. I never left my keys or wallet on the beach or anywhere here or on the mainland. Thieves are everywhere.

There is no internet access at Ahalanui, but a cam of some kind would be very feasible --and easily justified.
