RE: Pointless Topic - TV on DVD - Andrew - 07-08-2006

I borrowed the first 3 seasons of Smallville and have just started season 3. So far pretty enjoyable.

Besides various individual DVDs the only TV series I own is Cadfael. Maybe that means I should have been either a detective or a monk.

Ah, fellow couch slugs...

(Andrew, then you also must have "The Name of the Rose", alas, a movie, not a tv series...)

We have:
The Wire - seasons 1 & 2
The Corner - complete season
Dream On - the almost complete collection (an HBO comedy series from the '90's)
The Warner Bros. cartoon collection
SCTV collection
Cod Co - Okay, this was on VHS and we put it on DVD, a Canadian comedy series, not unlike SCTV
The Civil War - Ken Burns
Just about all of David Attenborough's series: The Life of Birds, ditto of Mammals, The Blue Planet, etc.
Eyes on the Prize - Civil Rights movement doc series produced by black Americans, VHS recording from broadcast, we DVD'd it; unfortunately not currently available

As I rarely watch TV and do not own a DVD collection of programming perhaps I shouldn't be slugging my post on this topic.

If I had a collection it would include,

The Prisoner-PBS
Any Carl Sagan series
The Scarlet Pumpernel (sp?) (movie)
Victor Victoria (movie)
Any Jack Cousteau production
Lady Hawk (movie)

My list perhaps says nerd, not in capitol letters though, but some of you know me so it doesn't matter! LOL Mella

OH...MY...GAWD...Mella - I LOVE Ladyhawk...it's one of my very favorites which I do own. (And also Out of Africa.) Of course, let's not forget This is Spinal Tap...and any Austin Powers...oh yeah and The Crow...and my very favorite sexy movie Dracula (okay - I have a vampire thing) with Gary Oldman as Vlad.

Okay - so I KNOW this started as a TV-DVD thing, but you KNOW how these threads morph, please forgive me for instigating that, Tony.

I Have the complete "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" series and the complete "Angel" series on DVD.

My small list must mean.... I'm a vampire. *lol*

RE: Pointless Topic - TV on DVD - Howard - 07-09-2006

I don't usually buy DVD's; I typically rent something I want to see and watch it once. I do have one DVD with clips of very early rock and roll performances on black-and-white TV, some Madeleine cartoons for my granddaughter's visits, and a few favorite movies.

I have two Ken Burns series, Jazz and baseball, on VCR, along with a number of individual documentaries, mostly about either sports or Philadelphia (or both). There were a lot of TV shows that I taped for convenience, watched, and taped over.
