No offense intended, but I think this belongs in the political forum. I don't see any way this group is going to discuss this topic without going political.

Hawaiian politics is a fair topic here on Punaweb. I'll put this in the political section. This is also the 100th anniversary of Pahoa. Statehood will have it's celebrations and protests I suspect.

It is kind of funny that something like the "50th anniversary of Hawaii Statehood" is considered "Political".
Coming from a state that also "CHOSE" to join the USA and also has a movement to seceded, the celebrations are never considered "Political". They celebrate the decision's and hard work of our ancestors, grandparents and parents.
We did not live in their shoes, we do not know all the issues that had, but we do stand on their shoulders and walk on their graves. We should celebrate the that they made life possible here and now for us and Statehood was what they thought was needed. Who are we to question our betters.
