Excitement in Tiki Gardens - nanasohana - 07-10-2006

Wow..this morning there was a yellow helicopter hovering over an area just a block from our house. We saw a man dangling from a rope being lowered down. Of course being Okies, John and I had to jump in the pickup and go check out what was up. Other neighbors were looking too.
Then the guy was pulled up back into the copter holding what I think was a bundle of the stuff that is illegal???? I am guessing on the exact plant it was but I don't think they were picking wild ginger if you know what I mean. So we left and went back home to get out of the way. Off and on all day the copters have been coming and going. Now I had heard of this stuff going on but wow to see it. Cool! And I would love, love to have had the chance to shake their hands, hug them and thank them for doing their job and tell them come everyday till this stuff is outa here!!!!!!!! So we punatics that are moving in here are going to see some of this law inforcement in action until things have changed to the way it should be for all peaceful law abiding citizens to be able to feel safe in their communities. This kinda change is a good thing for everyone, locals and newcomers alike. Yeah for the good guys!!!

Aloha Nancy! Sounds like a pretty interesting day for your neighborhood! I guess if someone is growing it out in a field - I mean enough so they can spot it like that then it's probably for mass consumption rather than their own little stash, right? Amazes me they can actually spot it like that.

Hi Carrie,
Yeah I don't know if it is a small amount or big stuff and I have no idea how they spot it. I tell you its exciting here!!!!!!!!!

According to people I've talked with, they can spot it from the air because the plant is a different color.

Searches like this go on all the time. A few weeks ago we saw them over by Papaya Farms Rd. I also understand that they can spot even a single plant from the air. I have tracked several of these searches on my police scanner radio. Very interesting!!But, I would NOT want to be the one hanging on the rope dangling from the copter. Yikes!

With remote sensing detection, they can easly pick up the CHEMICAL release of marijauna, and the remote sensing screen on the aircraft shows the filed in a different color. The chemical signature is the reason they can even sense this stuff under shade cloths & roofing. Obviously it is prevelant enough to had some pretty nice remote detection devices on board.

They picked up a whatever from my friend's drying oregano in Hawaiian Acres thre years ago! Seriously, it was drying oregano, and we were laughing when we heard the chopper that somebody was getting busted. We sure didn't expect us being busted! Smile

I hope it was exciting because it COSTS US A FORTUNE.
Just so I don't have to post a major RANT I'll just say I can't wait until pot is legal.
Sorry officers I'll guess you'll have to catch REAL criminals instead of having fun flying in choppers and arresting productive husbands and fathers.

For an informed look at the drug war, read "Drug Crazy" (don't recall the author's name). Read it a couple years ago and it opened my eyes to how much money, time and resources are being wasted on the drug war, resources that could be diverted toward much more worthy causes like education, prevention, and homeland security. Just another point of view to ponder.

this is nothing but legal terrorism. we have to suffer through this 6 to 8 months out of the year, constantly buzzing over our homes and scaring not only the animals but the people as well. and for what, a few pot plants, give me a break. they spend countless $$ to find a few plants, and then act like they really are doing something good. what they've really done by taking away the pakalolo, which drives up the cost of this harmless herb, is drive the young people to meth/ice. one day maybe the council will stand up to this air intrusion and refuse those federal $$ that perpetuate "green harvest".
