water filtration system installers needed - csgray - 02-16-2009
Can anyone give me the name of good water filtration system installers based on personal experience. We need someone to put in a complete new system, including UV, fairly soon.

One question that I would ask the UV seller is what to do about the hot water from non use. After a while a 40watt light bulb can get the water in the UV unit pretty hot. Hot enough that it steams.

No suggestion on an installer really but just another route is to ask the equipment vendor. I buy filters and have purchased components from Hawaii Catchment at Shipman Industrial Park. The two women there seem to keep up with the technology and sell different sizes and type of equipment. If you have done the research and know what you want, hooking the components together is pretty basic plumbing that any plumber or someone handy can do. Ask the folks at Pahoa Battery for a second opinion on systems and installers and you should have enough information to know what you need and what help you need to put it together.

I forgot to mention one other option. I actually started with this and it worked great. A fellow named Rick Bishop, KOBA pumps, was making a package that included everything. The package has about a 2' x 4' footprint and stands 4' high. A pump and pressure tank is on the bottom and filters and a UV system are mounted above. Connect the storage tank to one side and the house to the other and plug it in. The number I have for Rick is 965-1498 but I haven't talked to him for a year or so. He lives in Leilani Estates.

I've heard good things about Craig Loomis as well (is he related to Kevin Loomis? Kevin's another plumber guy that I've had good experiences with).
Hope at American Water Purification is a good source of the UV system equipment and other filters (I got my UV and a 20-inch activated charcoal filter from her). She may have plumbers to recommend.
Oh, and Carol, at the office I have the card of a gutter guy that comes highly recommended.
