Yep felt it here in Leilani too.

RE: EARTHQUAKE - Carey - 04-21-2009

Here in Keaau town, not on HVO yet

RE: EARTHQUAKE - Loretta - 04-21-2009

BIG jolt here in Kapoho. Thought a truck hit the house. My husband was upstairs and said he felt swaying also.

RE: EARTHQUAKE - Royall - 04-21-2009

So far it's rated 4.2

It felt stronger than the recent 5.0 here. I looked on the map, and it's a few miles closer, so that may be why.

Royall, you and I were both on the computer. I was tying up some loose ends with my travel arrangements to Texas tomorrow.

Have a safe trip Jerry!

Thanks, Royall. We are cleaning the family cemetery and decorating the graves of the Confederate soldiers. April 26 is Confederate Memorial Day in Texas. Hopefully we won't have an earthquake. Actually, a tornado is more probable, especially given the time of year.

Cheers,
Jerry

Jerry, what a great thing you are going back to Texas for!

I was in Yoga Class in a second story studio about 5 miles North of Hilo. It was significant, but felt smaller than the last one (5.1) I thought it would be about a 4.0 but it all depends on where it was centered. Since we were meditating at the time, we all felt it strongly. My Yoga teacher said she was up at the volcano last week and that it is more active than she has seen it in 20 years. Maybe that has something to do with all the vog we are experiencing (as well as the lack of trades).

Aloha au i Hawai`i,
devany

RE: EARTHQUAKE - Kelena - 04-21-2009

Yes, something is up. HVO has a webcam on the summit. There is lava quite far down below Halema'uma'u, but it has been more visible lately and more sounds are being heard. Was at the summit one night when it was very quiet, and all of the sudden it wasn't quite anymore -- the plume flared up, bright red with a quick, explosive snap.

Something steamy, shaky, and hot this way comes. And just in time as far as I'm concerned! Burn, baby, burn! (in a safe way so no one gets hurt).
