8 K tax credit is about to expire? - StillHope - 08-12-2009

I was told I need to hurry up with my project as the first home buyers government program (8 K tax credit) may actually end earlier?

Any information on that? I mean when you need to apply to make the deadline?

I was told by September 1-st.Could be wrong.

Anyone?

Q. Which home purchases qualify for the first-time homebuyer credit?

A. Any home purchased as the taxpayer’s principal residence and located in the United States qualifies. You must buy the home after April 8, 2008, and before Dec. 1, 2009, to qualify for the credit. For a home that you construct, the purchase date is considered to be the first date you occupy the home.

Thank you,Paul.
I new about the official date and the certificate of occupancy to qualify. But for some reason a friend of mine who recently bought a house in CA was told to hurry up with application before September 1-st.
Strange..

September 1st is 18 days away. I'm no law or real estate expert, but the chance of that being changed with such short notice is, in my opinion, nil. Don't believe everything you hear.

No change in the date, and I agree, don't listen to rumors!

California has some State incentives that are ending or being cut back, but that has no bearing on the federal programs or Hawaii. Your friends are probably mingling local cutback talk into one whole cutback of everything rumor; Or, just repeating what they heard as a rumor without doing basic research before passing it along.

Thank you,everyone .
I am glad it's just a rumor.
