Hard times for the HELLco? - StillHope - 10-06-2009 I knew that it's about $2800 to connect to HELL. I also knew that my neighbors paid about $300 deposit and it after that -affordable monthly payments. (With interest,of course, but at least you don't have to sell your soul[]). Just found out that they don't do financing anymore.. With all that horrible prices they charge- Hard times in HELL? RE: Hard times for the HELLco? - Bob Orts - 10-06-2009 Call them up and ask them for a copy of Rule 13 and Rule 13S (if your in a designated subdivision covered by rule 13S). That document explains how they calculate cost for new service, line extensions, and what portion they have agreed to cover and what portion you pay up-front or if they can only collect portions over 36 months. Many people have paid fees that they didn't have to because they didn't know what the rules were. Often the power company just made an error in asking for certain money because they forgot to apply the correct formula. If people pay what they were told without questioning it, the power company made some extra money. If a person questions it, it may or may not result in a lower connection fee. You'll never know until you ask. When I was looking at building, I called to get an estimate of the cost to provide service. The amount they gave me seemed high so I asked what the calculation was based on. Based on their information I asked about Rule-13 and ooops a miscalculation on their computer's part. The new amount would only be about 1/4 what was quoted for the line extension, not the full amount I was originally told. RE: Hard times for the HELLco? - StillHope - 10-06-2009 Thank you,Bob! Your advice is PRICELESS! (I owe you[]) I just found out that they don't accept credit cards. RE: Hard times for the HELLco? - Blakeyboy1 - 10-06-2009 Yes Bob this is awesome information and really helps us out and answers some question too! -Blake http://www.theboysgreatescape.blogspot.com/ RE: Hard times for the HELLco? - Devany - 10-06-2009 Why would they accept credit cards? That costs them money! You can ask your credit card company for a "credit check", mine actually send them to me in the mail constantly. Looks like a check, works like a check. At least I think so, I have never tired to use one. Welcome to Hawaii Still, it is cash that speaks here. Aloha au i Hawai`i, devany www.myhawaiianhome.blogspot.com www.eastbaypotters.blogspot.com RE: Hard times for the HELLco? - Liz - 10-06-2009 True, Helco doesn't accept credit cards but you can set it up for an autodeduction from your bank account. aloha, Liz "The best things in life aren't things." RE: Hard times for the HELLco? - StillHope - 10-06-2009 Thank you,Liz! But I don't think that is an option anymore for HELLCO. I am going to get the full amount in cash, but when I ask for options, the agent didn't mentioned that. Bob,when I called back I was told that they are already sending a copy(13-S) for our subdivision. Let's see what I'll get... RE: Hard times for the HELLco? - maud gonne - 10-06-2009 I have had my helco bill autodeducted from my checking account for over a year (they also send a paper bill for my records). I'd be surprised if they don't still do that - it's to their advantage to get their money with no hassle or wait. RE: Hard times for the HELLco? - StillHope - 10-06-2009 Maud gonne,I am going to ask them again, but to my understanding they want all amount right away. This is much better for them,I'd guess. RE: Hard times for the HELLco? - Green - 10-06-2009 POOR HELCO, has anyone checked their pathetic excuse for windturbine power at southpoint. When i was there a 18 months or so ago, it was shocking , all these windturbines and 3 actually worked. Must be a great tax scam for them. |
