Mauna Kea is blanketed with the seasons' first beautiful drape of glistening white SNOW.
It is winter!

I got great pix this morning from my deck, but now it appears only about 2 hours later, it has nearly all melted except for a few patches, beautiful day though! Angela

Most of the snow has melted but for those who can't get a view of the mountain when the next snowfall happens you can always have a look at the Mauna Kea webcams. There's a fairly complete collection of them here:

Incidentally, many of those who have worked on the mountain for years don't think this will be a good year for snow due to El Nino. I guess we'll have to see if that turns out to be true!
