Freight shipping large objects??? - Jared I - 09-16-2006 I need to have a large piece of machinery shipped to me from Oregon. Does anyone know how to go about this or a shipper that will ship from Portland to Hilo? I have shipped cars and containers to Hawaii, but large heavy crate is a little different. Thanks for your help. Jared RE: Freight shipping large objects??? - toucano - 09-16-2006 It sounds like you need a freight consolidator who will add your item to others going in a container. You can Google for one located in Portland. Or you could try Horizon or Matson. I am sure that they both ship out of the Port of Portland to HI.I don't know if Horizon or Matson do freight consolidation per se or not. RE: Freight shipping large objects??? - G. Leis - 09-17-2006 Yep, a freight consolidator (or forwarder as they are sometimes called) is what you need. I used to live in Portland and one of my former neighbors actually owns a firm in the Pacific Business Park out by PDX that is in this business: Patti Iverson-Summer Global Trading Resources 12695 NE Marx St., Bldg. 12 Portland, OR 97230 (503) 262-5506 http://www.gtri.net If you call, tell her Gene Leis said to say hi aloha, Gene _______________________ Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati RE: Freight shipping large objects??? - Jared I - 09-17-2006 Thanks, I am having an old slow diesel generator delivered.
