Playing chicken on Hwy 130 - kimo wires - 01-01-2010

Anyone see the Make of the car who was running others off the road this morning around 5:30 am. It was too dark for me to tell.
whoever it is they were in the oncoming lane between Paradise and shower dr. and ran us and two other drivers on to the shoulder.looked like maybe a honda sedan. I called police and reported it. I hope they caught them. We need to get these idiots off the road.

One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

kimo, you know about the earlier topic on this? Sounds like could be the same car; the other one was a Honda. Yellow?

ed. oh yeah, you were on the other topic. I found it and bumped it. By "tourist."

Happy new year guys ..

Same post from other thread .. Just want to know.

On the Honda. Is it the little, two door CRX model ?

Or a Civic Sedan ? I have seen a non-factory yellow one of those around.

Thanks.

aloha,
pog

well like I said it was too dark to tell. It looked like it could have been a crx model. It was small and might have been chopped, or lowered a little. It was hard to tell. It wasn't just drifting across the line by accident. It looked deliberate. After it passed us it stayed in the wrong lane till it was out of my rear view sight.
And yes I know about the other thread but I thought I'd start a new one because this is a NEW INCIDENT. If it's the same car then these Punk___s' need to be stopped before they kill someone!

RE: Playing chicken on Hwy 130 - missydog1 - 01-01-2010

I know it's a new incident but the old topic had useful information about contacts made with law enforcement and the general pattern, so it should be read too, and that's why I bumped it.

Ok I agree. The more information we can get on it the better.

RE: Playing chicken on Hwy 130 - mdd7000 - 01-01-2010

I saw the vehicle (yellow Honda CRX with black hood) a few minutes ago on hwy 130. Couldn't get the plate number - it was going the other way and was going quite fast.

That guy deserves to be shot! He should play chicken with a semi truck!

RE: Playing chicken on Hwy 130 - Rob Tucker - 01-01-2010

So what defensive techniques would people suggest when faced with an idiot playing Chicken on a road at night?

I told my young daughter that if threatened by a wrong way driver she should slow down and come to a complete stop in her lane (if there is no safe shoulder), turn off the engine and brace for impact. It think it is a mistake to be drawn into some fool's game. I make this advice knowing she drives a very heavy older car and any CRX would be toast in an impact.

Assume the best and ask questions.

I may be entirely wrong, as my physics knowledge was never the best, but I would think the immobile car would absorb more force than the moving car. There are no doubt formulas for that to be found. Clearly though, the guy doesn't want to hit you, and would swerve in that scenario. The problem with stopping dead in the road is someone comes along and rear ends you, not expecting a car stopped in the highway -- at least turn on the hazard lights then.
