Saw a new HGTV "Househunter" episode on Puna - EightFingers - 01-04-2010 ...last night. Two guys looking around Puna for a house: Fern Acres, HSRE (I think) and Ainaloa. They decided on Ainaloa. This time they discussed lava and tsunami zones and vog, which they left out of the first time at Puna. Agent also mentioned the "other" hazard of living by the ocean - corrosion. The two guys didn't like the catchment tank idea either - it was funny seeing their looks when they first saw the tanks in the backyards. Kind of interesting to see this 180 turnaround of how B.I. real estate was portrayed... I didn't know F.A. was in LZ-2.... RE: Saw a new HGTV "Househunter" episode on Puna - lavalinda - 01-04-2010 Aloha Sorry I missed that!! Hopefully they will replay it. They really said FA was in Lava 1!! I live there and it's always been 3 unless it was rezoned!! [B)] RE: Saw a new HGTV "Househunter" episode on Puna - EightFingers - 01-04-2010 No, they said it was LZ 2.......I always thought it was 3 also. RE: Saw a new HGTV "Househunter" episode on Puna - 808blogger - 01-04-2010 cmon guys..... http://pubs.usgs.gov/gip/hazards/kilauea.html http://pubs.usgs.gov/gip/hazards/mauna-loa.html do you really trust HGTV to present actual FACTS? that is for your ENTERTAINMENT not EDUCATION. RE: Saw a new HGTV "Househunter" episode on Puna - lavalinda - 01-04-2010 I realize it is lava 3 since I live there. I believe my insurance bill more the HGTV.I checked all the info before I bought. However I'm amazed HGTV does not do any fact checking ...entertainment or not it should be correct. [B)] RE: Saw a new HGTV "Househunter" episode on Puna - KeaauRich - 01-04-2010 Not to burst anyone else's bubbles, but most of the show you saw was staged. Due to technical issues, much of the footage was shot after the guys had picked their house, and the two "loser" houses shown were not the same ones they saw on their original shoot. Thank goodness they still liked their final pick after seeing the additional contenders! And still do today, from all accounts RE: Saw a new HGTV "Househunter" episode on Puna - JerryCarr - 01-04-2010 At least they mentioned lava hazards, unlike their previous show and many other mainland media real estate pieces. The fact that they didn't get it quite right . . . ? Well, it is HGTV after all. RE: Saw a new HGTV "Househunter" episode on Puna - chrisb483 - 01-04-2010 I really do not know why anyone would want to move here. |
