Where to buy water? - csgray - 01-09-2010 We haven't had rain at our house in weeks and also had tons of mainland family visiting over the holidays, which means we need to buy water. Any suggestions on who to call? Mahalo, Carol RE: Where to buy water? - Devany - 01-09-2010 Where is Carey when you need her? I am sure she has the answer. I have heard from other friends in Puna that they are also low on water and are ordering it from a water truck, but that is all I know. Aloha au i Hawai`i, devany www.myhawaiianhome.blogspot.com www.eastbaypotters.blogspot.com RE: Where to buy water? - lquade - 01-09-2010 keaau services in kurtistown. Ann Back to blogging at http://crazypineappledream.blogspot.com RE: Where to buy water? - Rob Tucker - 01-09-2010 Water trucks are busy. Get on a list for delivery asap. RE: Where to buy water? - TomK - 01-09-2010 This probably won't help and it's been years since I needed to have water hauled to my place, but the company I used began with the letter A. The only company I see in the yellow pages I recognise beginning with A is A&B Water Hauling Service. If it's the same company, they were pretty good. The problem is I can't stop thinking that the company I used was ACE water hauling (not the hardware store) and I can't find them in the book. I just might be misremembering. Back then (10 years ago) it cost around $80 for 4000 gallons and it varied depending on where you lived. My guess is that it'll be much more expensive now, maybe $120-150, but I don't know. Like you, I hope someone with recent experience will say something. We're experiencing a strong El Nino event and the last one like this was back in 97/98. We had no rain near the coast in HPP for around 3 months back then and I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens this year. Waiting lists for getting water hauled to your place can grow to a week or more when there's a drought, so you definitely need to call someone soon if you're getting short or need a lot of water in the near future. Tom RE: Where to buy water? - Carey - 01-09-2010 Hey, I've never needed to buy water, (we rented a place that had a gigantic catchment & bought on County water) but I know that I see the Keaau Water truck(s?) all over the place right now. Every couple of years this question is raised, so probably doing a forum search is a good idea. ETA:You may be able to sweet talk a driver of those pickups with a caged waterbox (what are those things called?) into delivering a few hundred gallons for the interim. RE: Where to buy water? - PaulW - 01-09-2010 A few months ago we looked into it and if I remember correctly it was $130 for 4,000 gallons. We called the numbers in the phonebook. But then it rained. RE: Where to buy water? - Lin W - 01-09-2010 This is just an observation, not an endorsement - I have been seeing a Charlie's water truck in my neighborhood a lot lately. use it up, wear it out, make it do, do without RE: Where to buy water? - Rob Tucker - 01-11-2010 Were you successful in locating a source of water? |
