Costco rumor pau? - punafish - 09-26-2006
Many of us followed with interest the thread that began as Pizza-Hut-In-Keau then morphed into the Costco-in-Keaau rumor. it sucked me right in! Now check out the front page of the Tribune Herald this morning, "Making Way for Shops: Keaau Work is Clearing Area for New Businesses". Nary a mention of Costco. You “Costco speculators” had me all excited then…pau? Guess only time will tell. What’s so scary is how these rumors take on a life of their own. (I blame it all on the guy grading the property…he seemed like such a credible source of information at the time
Think I need another fun rumor to go with my coffee in the morning. Any juicy new rumors we can start?
To quote Neil Young, "Don't let it bring you down, it's only Costco yearning" or something like that. Hey, Puna is just as wonderful – some might argue even more wonderful – without Costco mucking up our traffic. Still…was looking forward to not visiting Kona anymore…

Sure Tim, I heard one rumor, it went like this.........One day I was just walking along the road with my dog, minding my own business.....thinking about the beauty of the area, the flowers, tress, sights and smells of the early morning dew on things still, the freshness of the morning as the sun rises and earth for us starts it morning here in Puna, the place we call home......when suddenly came into my view this incredibly nice looking blond, I stopped in my tracks, felt a bit weak in the knees, thought I might be on the beach in a Baywatch film, she was cing down the road walking my way, all busty, blondy and leggy all over, with one of those short t's on and some real cuts offs with the strings hanging off the edges, whew, just such a sight, looking like a Pam Anderson look alike doll baby, she and I stopped and exchanged our aloha's, I asked her where she was going, we walked awhile and she confessed she wanted directions for a guy named Tim, sometimes she said he went by the name punafish, but she wondered when any great guy could call himself a fish name, I replied that I did not know either, we chatted for some time and we left and went our separate ways, but she is still most likely wandering along somewhere in Puna, looking for the guy.

It's funny Trader Joe's stared looking into Chico Ca. because they kept getting calls in the Sacramento stores about the rumor that they moving up here. So they sent a team up to look it over and decided that the area didn't have the demographics to support a Trader Joe's. Another 6 months still more rumors and they decided to try it anyway, because of the rumors. Smoke and fire?

I would not discount what you may think that you look like.....have you seen the guys that Pam is often fond of? Let that thought sink into the subconcious of those who are looking for a babe like her, or that just looks like her. Wasn't it one of those famos tool guys that made it big with all the money and that which goes along with it when he was found out while working construction, beside the road.....there ya go all you construction guys, think great thoughts!
Tell your wife that it is her turn to write one for us here, since we rarely get to hear from that other side!

Keith, sounds like you're describing a self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe that'll happen here too? Possibly.
Jim, after the coffee I switch to green tea and it keeps me going throughout the day. My better half has better things to do than start new rumors. But not me! Just give me some time to think of a new one...

Keith - Trader Joe's is coming to Puna??? Awsome!!! I love Trader Joe's. They have the greatest jams and spreads and their sallads are wonderful. Oh this really is great news. So where are they moving in at? In that new development in Keaau? Maybe beside the new bank. Awsome - can't wait.

I was just at Trader Joe's and asked them if it is true that they were opening a store in the that new development in Keaau! I got a very positive reaction from the manager that sounded almost primal It went like this "whaaa" I took that as a yes. More later.
