Any snow on Mauna Kea? If there is, that would make 50 out of 50 States with snow! So much for global warming! [Big Grin]

RE: RE: Snow - dakine - 02-12-2010

but oh boy.. cycles within cycles... but hey brah... snow or no snow.. the frickin ice IS melting world wide. so call it whatever you want, at the moment there is enough real scientific observations to suggest your snide comment about 'global warming' might be more revealing as to the level of ignorance you bring to the discussion than anything based in real.. albeit longer term and farther ranging than you would like.. consideration of the facts

as to snow.. here.. nope... it doesn't look like there's any on either mauna kea...

or manua loa...

at the moment!

nor does it appear that the sky is falling!

He tries to make a one funny remark about global warming and instead has to prepare for the verbal attacks... How nice.

not very.. sorry 'bout that.. but suffering fools that are willing to make funny (if that is what he was doing... which is not how I read it) about something as serious as mans trashing of his environment to the point of having blown it.. something as a collective that is still 'in debate' and 'non-existent' if one were to listen to any republican you can find. when in fact it's pretty much a few 100 years of consumption by an elite few that is going to be charged back to generation upon generation in ways that could have a toll beyond our imagination. so yeah I got buttons too.. and that one got pushed. and yeah.. being kind is always better. once again.. sorry about that!

RE: RE: Snow - 808blogger - 02-12-2010

its the new religion! Global warming so alarming.. AHAHAHAHHAHAHA

RE: RE: Snow - 808blogger - 02-12-2010

also notice how the term is changing from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change" they have to keep the "new religion" going because the entire "body of evidence" of "Warming" is being revealed to be a fraud.

RE: RE: Snow - Kelena - 02-12-2010

So much for global warming? So much for a country where scientists are revered. Deep throat had it right: follow the money. The deniers have every reason to convince you that this phenomenon does not exist and is not man made. The scientists who have noted this phenomenon will not be enriched by billions for explaining the phenomenon. They have nothing to gain and, in fact, are under attack.

Here is how I understand the basic science, which is beyond reasonable controversy. Greenhouses gases are making the world warmer. This disrupts normal weather patterns. This disruption, in turn, causes extreme weather events. These events may be hot, or they be cold. For example, in a movie based on current science called "The Day After Tomorrow", the Northeast becomes an ice box as global warming brings extremely cold weather to the region. Jake Gyllenhal gives smoldering looks to the female lead, but it is not enough to melt the snow.

So, getting back to the question, is there snow on Mauna Kea? My impression is there is not because warm winds are blowing from Hawaii to Vancouver where apparently there is no snow for the winter games --another anomalous and very unusual weather event.

RE: RE: Snow - Carey - 02-12-2010

Talked to one of the astronomers last night at a meeting on the watershed, there is - currently- no snow on Mauna Kea..... last snow was before the holidays.... so it looks very unlikely that the "snow in 50 states" will happen.... this year.... but.....

ETA - IPCC has NEVER used that term... that is all a media-hype term, has been for decades, nice to see some of our bunch are just learning the OLD terms! GWP's were discussed, but the concept was on the POTENTIALS....interesting to note that the ones that would seem most wary of media influence, have been under the media hype
(BTW - IPCC has been meeting for over 2 decades & took over a decade to be established.... for those of us from the "Whole Earth Catalog" days, you may remember the climate change & GWP's.... but many are babes compared to OF's like me!)

RE: RE: Snow - Dennis - 02-12-2010

Hey, take a chill pill, just asked if there was any snow! Now back to shoveling the 24 inches off my driveway![Big Grin]

RE: RE: Snow - Dennis - 02-12-2010

Sorry, thanks Carey & Glen for answering my question. Dennis
