wouldn't you like to know - 808blogger - 02-22-2010 would the admin kindly post the rules that are followed for deleting topics PUBLICLY on this thread, If its just arbitrary well post that. RE: wouldn't you like to know - Rob Tucker - 02-22-2010 Postings on Punaweb are to be about Hawaiian and Puna issues and life. For seven years I have declined all attempts to engage in national or world issues. There are thousands of sites on which to discuss or rant on republicans, democrats, climate change (or lack thereof), abortion, war and peace. There is basically one site at this time solely for Puna. But if you want to think it is arbitrary I can live with that. We do have a five member Operating Committee who I can turn to for a broader opinion. If you want me to I will ask them. It is really rather simple. Assume the best and ask questions. Punaweb moderator RE: wouldn't you like to know - PaulW - 02-22-2010 And that's the way we like it! Thanks Rob. RE: wouldn't you like to know - 808blogger - 02-22-2010 How are the threads about movies relevant and discussion about rising sea levels (we live next to an ocean)? RE: wouldn't you like to know - Rob Tucker - 02-22-2010 First of all I am not going to spend a lot of time explaining every topic and thread to you. It will always be a judgment call. In cases where there might be a lot of dissension I will turn to our Operating Committee for guidance. As regards the topic of movies: I recall this being in reference to a local class on film history. Assume the best and ask questions. Punaweb moderator RE: wouldn't you like to know - 808blogger - 02-22-2010 Can you provide an explanation of how i was off topic? RE: wouldn't you like to know - Rob Tucker - 02-22-2010 Well, I see your posting of a link to some British press regarding a retracted report on sea level rise as a transparent attempt to open a can of worms on climate change (or lack thereof). As near as I could determine you wanted to make a point that something was not going to affect Hawaii. Rather slim pickings. Now if there was a proposal at the state or county level to construct a seawall in Kona or Hilo I think you would have definitely had something to launch a topic on. Lacking that my sense was that you were wandering off the farm so to speak and I retired your topic(s). Assume the best and ask questions. Punaweb moderator RE: wouldn't you like to know - John S. RE: wouldn't you like to know - PaulW - 02-22-2010 Sea levels are important. Economy is important. Oil prices are important. They all affect Hawaii. But they're not *specific* to Hawaii. That's how I understand it. RE: wouldn't you like to know - mdd7000 - 02-22-2010 True, the issues are not specific - but it is important to residents to know how their local candidates for political office will vote on issues such as climate change, especially if tax money is going to be spent based upon false or misleading "science". |
