Rat control - rbakker - 02-24-2010

I bought a Ratzapper and I can tell you, it works!

I didn't even know we had rats near the house, I've seen them in the trees but I thought I'd buy one just in case. Quite pricey ($50 at ACE in Keaau) and you need 4 AA batteries, but worth it. So far 3 rats in 5 days.

Be sure to read and follow the instructions.

wonder how a bigger one would do against the bigger rats (if you know what I mean)that rip off the good people of Puna

peace

That's less than the cost of maintaining my cats!
They have been averaging a rat or mouse every day the last two weeks (just the captures I've seen). Maybe it's the drought bringing them out of hiding.

Nice, wonder if these things would work on cats...

Too many strays are pooping and urinating by my window. BB guns and the dogs arent cutting it.

Time to move on to bigger and badder things...[}Smile]

Cat-Zapper!!

For cats, the Humane Society will lend you traps for free, and then you can just hand them over and let them deal with it.

But then you might end up with rats!

Ha! I just caved and purchased one too! Amazing. 3 rats in two nights. I'm kicking myself for not doing this sooner. I find that peanut butter with a garbanzo bean is irresistible bait. I also discovered that I can catch one on the early evening shift & another early morning - but I have get up around midnight to empty the trap. Small price to pay IMHO. I just wish I could afford more than one trap!

Well done hooligal, death to the rats!

Did you get a "classic" or the new, fancier, version? The classic is blue.
I followed the instructions, baiting it but not turning it on until they took the bait, and that took a while.
Finally found the right place to put it - next to the trash cans. I'm just using the kibbels they provided.
So far the rats have only managed to eat one of them before being zapped.

I usually check around 11pm, haven't had a bite that early yet. I'll check at midnight tonight, thanks for the tip.

cats kill rats/mice better. there is a reason cats are domesticated and its for this exact reason.

Here is their website (quick loading for those of you still on dial-up)

They do not sell to or ship to Hawaii. You have to go through their dealers, of which they are numerous on the island.

Will the little green lizards trip them? I'd hate to kill of my bug-getters!
