Stainless Steel Entry Gate - Wao nahele kane - 02-27-2010 Is there anyone here(On B.I.)who can and is willing to fabricate a custom stainless steel double entry gate? Looking for something like the gate seen in the following linked image but we need it 18' wide (double gate)by 6' high and sliding. http://www.falcon-hammersley.com/images/sttgate.png E ho'a'o no i pau kuhihewa. RE: Stainless Steel Entry Gate - Carey - 02-27-2010 We got a set of 16' SS gates from an importer in HPP...(unfortunately we got them before we bought the house... we need 19.5"!) There are a few welders I know of that do do SS on island... and there is also the welding shop at Hawaii Community College (email pam jones through the forum for info on hubby... he is one of the best on island) This is on craigslist: http://honolulu.craigslist.org/big/bfs/1581159644.html RE: Stainless Steel Entry Gate - dmbwest - 02-27-2010 Weldin Sheldon ??? http://hawaii.eztouseislandpages.com/Detail.asp?ID=1362407 The gate looks pretty simple ... Alternative is Force Marine or other Marine Fabricator ? RE: Stainless Steel Entry Gate - Wao nahele kane - 02-28-2010 Thanks all... Carey - just add a pedestrian gate perhaps? E ho'a'o no i pau kuhihewa. RE: Stainless Steel Entry Gate - Carey - 02-28-2010 Kane, that is what we were thinking, but now we have "spoiled rotten dog" that is very visually in-tune to the world on the other side of the fence... and we are thinking about getting a less see-through gate.... for ours & our neighbors peace & quiet! RE: Stainless Steel Entry Gate - EightFingers - 03-01-2010 So how long does a galvanized gate last? I assume near the ocean it would have a MUCH shorter life span than where we are about 3 miles inland. I can just imagine what a s.s. gate would cost..... RE: Stainless Steel Entry Gate - Carey - 03-01-2010 Ours was not that bad (we bought it 5.5 years ago...I think it was in the $400-500 range...) Looks more like a fancy farm gate, tube stock with 5 main horizontals & some vertical stock with brass accents.... if any one is interested... we really do not have a need for it (unless we figure something out) RE: Stainless Steel Entry Gate - john the architect - 03-12-2010 My favorite gate was on 12th in HPP and it was a simple rustic one made of guava. Make a statement with your gate other than sterility and paranoia. Unless you are recycling something, a basic farm gate would work fine. Dress it up and accessorize it. How about this solution for removing junk car frames? Make a concrete foundation and have anchor bolts set to the pattern of a car wheel. Mount a junk car frame that will hinge on the wheel bolted to the foundation. Junk removed, artistic gate achieved. RE: Stainless Steel Entry Gate - dmbwest - 03-13-2010 "Make a statement with your gate other than sterility and paranoia" I like that one John. aloha, pog |
