Omaha Steaks - Samdooby - 07-20-2010 Anyone every had these? My mother-in-law is so kind as to offer to buy me some and before I jump at the offer, just wondering if anyone has eaten these before? Good? Bad? Funky? RE: Omaha Steaks - james weatherford - 07-20-2010 quote: Yes, we had some last year, at my mother's in Ky. She got them from her sister in Nebraska. Good eating. Rabi - 07-20-2010 I used to order it online, but even with their specials they became too expensive over the years. Of course the shipping to Hawaii is an extra bitter pill. Aloha, John S. You'd be better off buying local meats in my opinion RE: Omaha Steaks - LeeE - 07-20-2010 What we need is Argentine steaks! They're reputed to be as good as Kobi beef. Yum! RE: Omaha Steaks - Samdooby - 07-21-2010 Thanks Doc Weahterford, appreciate the response... John - their specials right now are RIDICULOUS! Shipping is "only" $24 to HI... KeeauRIch - thx for the feedback. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the local beef here on the Big Island. Maui beef, now thats a different story. SO tasty... Lee - I agree. The wifey and I have been to a few Argentinian BBQ here and abroad. Second to none IMO... RE: Omaha Steaks - oink - 07-22-2010 I've had the Omaha steaks a couple of times. I thought they were very good. Pua`a S. FL Big Islander to be. RE: Omaha Steaks - MarkP - 07-22-2010 There is a general undercurrent of greenness and sustainability in most of the topics discussed by Punaweb members. In the name of consistency, what could be less green or sustainable than shipping fresh food 1/8 of the way around the world, refrigerating it all the while, when the same product could be produced locally? So what if it tastes a little better? On the same site where people obsess about the embodied energy in their building materials, which are going to last decades and in most cases can't be produced locally, is no one going to pass judgement on shipping a perishable product that is mostly water, requires refrigeration, could be (in fact is) produced locally, and is a one time use item? What about bison meat? I hear it's pretty good. RE: Omaha Steaks - LeeE - 07-22-2010 Samdobbie, Lucky you guys! My sister just got back from Argentina and said it is one of the most beautiful countries she has ever seen. I suggested to Hilo Burger Joint that they look into getting it. I personally enjoy the local product and will definitely try Maui beef next time over there. We've bought bison meat here (at one of the health food stores) and it too is very ono. Wonder if a Brazilian style meat place here would work? Grind em if ya got em! RE: Omaha Steaks - John S. Rabi - 07-22-2010 quote:You can get bison meat at Safeway too, it's much cheaper than at the health food store. There is a Brazilian restaurant in Honolulu, it's always full! Aloha, John S.
