WWOOFing in Hawaiii - adias - 11-18-2006

Has anyone done any WWoofing? Interesting concept, free accomadation for part time labor in organic farms. Lots of these places in Hawaii. Seems like a fun way to travel the world and meet people..

Hey Cat,
Can you give a little more details, I've read about it, but it would be really cool to hear about it from a real host.

Seem like a very successful program, win/win for everyone. Besides, I was quite surprised at the number of organic places on the Big Island.

Choose carefully. Talk to past participants, many farms are more like indentured servant jobbies than co-ops. I can't talk specifics, but many acquaintances here have done as much and have had a mixed bag of experiences. A lack of transport and personality issues seem to be the big problems, though the idea is, I agree, marvelous.
