Ponds - grsjax - 07-11-2010 Thinking about having a pond put in. Anyone have any suggestions for a contractor that can do a concrete lined pond? Anyone built one, any problems, lessons learned you can pass along? No matter how thin you slice it, its still balony. RE: Ponds - lquade - 07-11-2010 i would call peter at pacific gunite first. he did me a little pond when they were there building my water tank. he runs a crew of really nice guys and is a punawebber. linnette RE: Ponds - John S. I keep them with my tilapia to keep down mosquitos population... They are extremely effective at eating eggs and larvae... Plus the slow ones help feed my tilapia! Is there some formula for the amount of those mosquitofish per square yard of surface or by volume one would like to have ? Thanks. aloha, pog RE: Ponds - KeaauRich - 07-12-2010 Pog, from our experience, even if you start out with too few fish to begin with, you'll soon have more than enough...apparently the fish don't have many diversions in the pond, so they use their free time to procreate (except for the gay ones...oh wait, I'm in the wrong thread for that comment..my bad) RE: Ponds - dmbwest - 07-12-2010 Ha Rich, If you would not mind ... forgot to ask this one before ... So you have X average mosquitos about before the pond, you put the pond in ... I figure more mosquites are going to attracted to the pond but do you get a noticable increase in mosquitoes in the areas surrounding it ? "Surrounding it " might equal = say 20+' beyond the perimeter. Edit to add ...This would be with the horny fish in place already. Thanks again. aloha, pog RE: Ponds - Kapohocat - 07-13-2010 i got plenty talapias for the pond. All sizes! lol Free to good homes or fish fry! |
