Pineapples! - LeeE - 08-06-2010 Just harvested my first pineapple. It was a huge, white one and totally onolicious. I'd like to grow some more pineapples, but don't want to wait big time, for them to fruit. Anybody know if nurseries or folks sell more or less mature pineapple plants? RE: Pineapples! - Scott_S - 08-09-2010 We also have been harvesting our pineapples, joy. I did see some at Home Depot that actually had some small pineapples on them, it was over a week ago though. RE: Pineapples! - Royall - 08-10-2010 I didn't see what HD had as for sale but there is a ornamental pineapple that they sell once in a while.... Not edible. Royall RE: Pineapples! - rasman - 08-10-2010 Here's a little trick that has worked for me. You don't have to wait 2 years for that pineapple. Once the the plant is 1 year old or at least large enough to bear a decent size fruit, try cutting up some apple into small pieces and drop a few right into the center of the plant. The apple contains certain acids that encourage or force flowering. There are other fruits that also contain this acid and will work as well, but I can only speak from experience concerning the apples. Anyhow, give it a try, its worked for me!
