Gardenia Cuttings - Andrew - 08-10-2010

Is it possible to root Gardenias from cuttings?

Andrew

RE: Gardenia Cuttings - mailesomaha - 08-10-2010

Yes, Yes, yes; rooting hormone absolutely works. Most of the time just placing them in some thick mountain muck, as my soil here in eden roc is, works without any rootone actually.

Andrew, ours could use a trim & we have rooting hormone... so next time you are planning on coming by, give us a call....

mine took with no rooting hormone

Thanks folks for the kind replies. I actually have 2 or 3 gardenias and lately trimmed one back and put some of the cuttings into water. Now that I have read of your various successes I will plant them.

Aloha,
Andrew

Maybe next year I can take them off your hands. They are my favorite!

I am still so amazed at the many, many, many edible and fragrant things that come from Carey and Jim's not-so-huge property in Kea'au! There's just no excuse not to grow our own stuff anymore!

Not-so -huge?
Ours is one of the smallest lots in Downtown Keaau! For those that wonder, most of the lot is filled with a house! there are 2 small gardens & the borders of the property & lots of stuff! (much of it as old as the area... ~30-50 years - and planted in layers - ground growers, understory shrubbery & fruit canopy

My point exactly. You have abundance on this little lot...others have large spaces and don't use it as well as you use your little one![Smile]
