Pittsburgh? Hawaii? - Rob Tucker - 08-12-2010 In the Star Advertiser there is an article which mentions a fundraiser for Mufi Hannemann in Pittsburgh. It didn't mention PA. Somehow the fundraiser resulted in a small campaign fine. Is there a Pittsburgh, HI? I don't think so. What has me puzzled I guess is why a Hawaii gubernatorial candidate would be fund raising in Pittsburgh PA? Seems like a long way to go to fish for money. http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/hawaiinews/20100812_Hannemann_camp_fined_for_violations.html RE: Pittsburgh? Hawaii? - JerryCarr - 08-12-2010 Well, raising money on the mainland is not new behavior for Hawaii politicians. I seem to remember Billy Kenoi getting contributions from California developers. (Someone correct me if that's wrong.) Pittsburgh, however, seems pretty far afield for even our money-hungry politicians. There's probably a more interesting story there than just the minor fine. RE: Pittsburgh? Hawaii? - John S. Rabi - 08-12-2010 I'm sure there is a reason, and I'm sure there are people with "Hawaiian interests" in Pittsburgh too. Aloha, John S. Hawaii? - dlnragent - 08-15-2010 The reason for Pittsburgh was that the fundraising was involving one of the companies that are vying for the rail project. There was some publicity on this right after it happened. I don't understand why it was not mentioned in the article. RE: Pittsburgh? Hawaii? - Rob Tucker - 08-15-2010 Ahhhh. That makes sense. Fund raising amongst Capital Improvement Project contractors. Of course. RE: Pittsburgh? Hawaii? - JerryCarr - 08-15-2010 Why do all the "thug alert" bells in the back of my empty little head go off whenever Mufi gets mentioned? Am I the only one with those little bells? Maybe I need medication. RE: Pittsburgh? Hawaii? - Menehune - 08-15-2010 Ding! Dong! Tinkle! BONG! Damn - I hear them too! RE: Pittsburgh? Hawaii? - jerry - 08-15-2010 There is a Pittsburgh in California, about 20 miles from San Francisco heading towards Sacramento. Jerry Art and Orchids B&B http://www.artandorchids.com |
