Hilo cliff diving - Frankie Stapleton - 09-12-2010
Did anyone else make it to watch the Red Bull Cliff Diving Championships in Pepeekeo today? It was truly awesome! We'd heard you could actually see it from the highway so we had a big Hilo chore anyway and when we'd finished, drove to site and you could look right across to the dive platform. But you couldn't see the bottom, where the divers landed. But still a great view!
Then security came out and told everyone they could come inside for free cause they didn't want anyone to get hit on the bridge. And we all got to go inside and watch from the other side. Great pupus, drinks, the whole 9 yards. Only thing was, from the inside we didn't have as close a view of the platform. We could see more of the dive but the dive is so deep, we still couldn't see the water at the bottom where the divers went it.
It was a great afternoon, no rain in Pepeekeo and everyone had a unique afternoon and good clean fun. And beautiful men in speedos! Hawaii no ka oi!!! [:I]

Lucky you! Wish I had known. I was in the area today for the Bamboo Festival.

We drove by there about 2:30 PM on our way to Honomu and wondered what was going on.... Thanks for the info.
