Full Moon Cafe - New Hilo restaurant - Rob Tucker - 09-14-2010

I wanted to alert everyone the the Full Moon Cafe. A new Thai/American restaurant adjacent to the Kress dollar theater in downtown Hilo's Bayfront area. An old laundry building has been elegantly converted into an pleasant dining establishment. Seven days a week till 9 pm.

Nice atmosphere.

I tried the coconut soup and spring rolls. Very tasty and healthy too.

So I encourage people to give them a try. I know how much work it is to launch such a venture and in today's economy it takes guts too.

Aloha

I believe it's Full Moon Cafe. A friend of a friend has opened it and they've put a lot of effort into it being just right. Right now, my understanding is that there isn't much "American" fare, it's strictly Thai at this point - but they will soon expand the menu as they get settled into their routine.

You be right. I will correct.

Phen & Brooks Maloof are the owners and operators of this great new place. They have had a great first month of business and they do in fact have some American food. I had the hamburger and fries on one of my visits and it was huge.Very good beef and runs 7 ounces. Great Thai iced tea with cream to.They are refining the menu to include better selections for lunch at a more economical cost. Almost every night there is live entertainment. Try it and you'll like it.
