Predictions for 2007? - Hotzcatz - 12-21-2006 Anyone have any predictions for 2007? All I see is doom and gloom with the housing market hitting the wall, along with our National economy tanking, the dollar being really devalued on the worldwide market, the stock market taking a huge hit and perhaps even double digit inflation. Locally, the rising price of gas & shipping will increase our daily expenses while decreasing the amount of tourists. Personally, I'm going to plant a huge garden with loads of food & flowers just to cheer myself up. Anyone wanna predict anything better? RE: Predictions for 2007? - John S. Rabi - 12-21-2006 Move to China! Aloha, John S. Since I'd be a probably be a peasant I'd have to learn new skills. However, the food would be good, if there was any of it for the peasants, that is. RE: Predictions for 2007? - punafish - 12-21-2006 Nothing like a dose of gloom and doom to start the day. (For a good antidote, see Mella's thread "Just for fun".) So here are our options so far on dealing with the impending doom: Plant a garden Move to a rapidly developing communist country And my humble contribution, jump off the nearest bridge. Nah. I think I'll just enjoy my holiday downtime with my head blissfully buried in the sand...then CROSS that fateful bridge when I come to it. Aloha to all and best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2007. Tim Other people can talk about how to expand the destiny of mankind. I just want to talk about how to fix a motorcycle. I think that what I have to say has more lasting value.” Robert Pirsig RE: Predictions for 2007? - Genxor - 12-21-2006 Hmm , what do I see .... 1. I see me there in Puna , because my home finally sold here in S.C. 2. Madame Pele will round up all of the Coquis and banish them to Guam. 3. Everyone owning chickens on the Big Island will be forced to purchase county tags for each one. This revenue will help pay for the new L.D.A. road ( Leilani direct access road)to and from Hilo . Residents only ! 4. Kapoho will sink forever into the ocean. 5. With real estate continuing to slow, Rabi and Dirgo will begin performing kareoke at Charley's Bar and Grill. 6. Lastly , Governor Lingle will introduce legislation forcing county governments to collect junk and abandoned cars , and force the owners to lay in a tub of centipedes. RE: Predictions for 2007? - Kapohocat - 12-21-2006 My slightly cloudy crystal ball - 1) More people will form a community mentality rather than build fences (except for the wild pigs they catch) and not just after earthquakes. 2) Ridesharing will really take place. 3) One decent Mexican resturant will appear on the East side. (okay this is already happening with Tathina's so it may not count as a prediction!) 4) the NIMBY's will realize we need alternate power sources besides HELCO and oil, and we need an alternate access road from Lower South Puna to Hilo. 5) boutique or family farms will prosper. 6) the Sierra Club will finally be happy that the pig hunters have eliminated all the wild pigs when the expense of Matson is too great to ship meat to Cost Co. 7) Ed Mc Mahon delivers my $5 million before Kapoho sinks. RE: Predictions for 2007? - Kahunascott - 12-21-2006 Hey Hotzcatz you left out Mauna Loa erupting and covering all of us in LAVA. RE: Predictions for 2007? - John S. Rabi - 12-21-2006 Genxor, we are in trouble! John Dirgo and I can not get a job at Charlie's, it's no more! (It's a more upscale place now called Paradise Grill or somethiong like that.) I guess we just will move to China, especially if Kapoho sinks to the ocean, poor John will lose his land too! Aloha, John S. The lady across the street (next to Dawn) is dating the owner of that place and maybe I can get you in there! I predict I will eat much coconut pie, site some whales, harvest lilikoi, paint some pictures, and get a job that is pleasant even if it doesn't make us wealthy. Too easy for me to see what's not good...moving here is a stepping stone to positive thinking. I hope you all have a real nice Christmas Day and find something to look forward to in 2007!
