Simply Merry Christmas. - wyatt - 12-22-2006 With our construction going on were not feeling very holidayish. Well with Christmas cards and phone calls and some emails we finally feel the holiday aproaching. What a wonderful feeling. Merry Christmas to all. Happy holidays to all. Aloha Wyatt Edited by - wyatt on 12/22/2006 08:19:16 Edited by - wyatt on 12/22/2006 08:24:44 RE: Simply Merry Christmas. - jdirgo - 12-22-2006 Mele Kalikimaka to you all. Thanks, wyatt, for reminding me of the holiday spirit. Sometimes, when you live here, where we don't really have a winter, its hard to get in the spirit. Y'all (which I argue should be accepted as proper English, since the English language does not have a good second-person plural) give me that spirit. Sophie finished her treatments this week and had a normal test report today. Our electrician finished the rough-in today. Our son, wife, and our grandbaby arrive Christmas eve to spend a week. I sure can't think of a better holiday. Best wishes to and for all. David Ninole Resident RE: Simply Merry Christmas. - wyatt - 12-22-2006 Yup, it is hard to believe it is winter here let alone Christmas. Aloha Merry Christmas RE: Simply Merry Christmas. - John S. Rabi - 12-22-2006 Mele Kalikimaka to everyone! I personally don't miss the snow, a Mai Tai puts me in a holiday spirit! ![]() Aloha, John S. We just got back from the play "A Christmas Carol" at the Lyman Museum in Hilo. This year the cast is again grand, and play well to the audience (they have ONE MORE SHOW tommorrow night, for those of you that need the Humbug dashed out. One of the things many miss out on are the traditions of the holidays. We have tried to add new traditions for our new home. 1st, we go to the UHH Holiday concert, next event is up to KMC in Volcano for their Christman Concert (and a chance for a shiver or two) then we try to see the "Nutcracker" (missed this year) at the Palace & finish up the season with "A Christmas Carol" and a drive home up through Heahea with all of their beautiful lights (and the best lit palm trees along one driveway!). Ah, the holidays are here! Glad tiding to all! And Dave & Sophie CONGRATULATIONS! Our 15 year-old daughter and almost 17 year-old son will be arriving on Tuesday and will leave us again on Sunday. We have only less than a week with them and then we won't see them again until June or July. We miss them terribly and are looking forward to showing them around the Island...can't wait to taken 'em to the volcano, Hapuna, maybe see some whales, tide pools, etc. Things are tight for us money-wise and I too have had to struggle to feel the spirit of Christmas this year. But having them here for even a short while has reminded me what a true "gift" is. So, up went our tree and while I was putting some of the ornaments on it that they made when they were just wee ones in school made me smile. Nothing like the ornaments with the crooked edges and funny stick people santas. The ones with their school pictures when they were in kindergarten and first grade made my heart grow a couple sizes. 2006 was a challenging year. This forum has been a very good neighborhood for us. The generosity that is shown here is unmatched. People freely share their experiences so that others who have a dream to live here may have a more clear pathway to Hawai'i. It's not all candy-coated...there are challenges to be sure. Punaweb reminds me of the dream and why we needed to shake up our lives and live them instead of just "existing." Thanks so much Rob for moderating a sometimes challenging neighborhood and promoting community in Puna...it's good to be home. Merry Christmas. Carrie "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Cathie and I moved into the new house two weeks ago and we’re still getting settled in. The Internet finally got hooked up and not having it for so long it takes a while to get all caught up with the email and Punaweb! It will be nice to celebrate Christmas in our own home and in such a wonderful place as Hawaii. Again, Merry Christmas to the people of this fun web site and be safe. By the way, I’ll get some photos of the furnished house posted some time this weekend. Royall What goes around comes around! RE: Simply Merry Christmas. - Carolann R - 12-23-2006 Congratulations Royall & Cathie! What a great feeling it must be for you both to finally be HOME. Merry Christmas!
