Chickens and Eggs - pslamont - 01-08-2011 Our chickens have suddenly come off strike (molt). Listed eggs for sale in non-Classified section. I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!" RE: Chickens and Eggs - pslamont - 01-20-2011 Wow... our chickens delivered 25 eggs today... up from the 15 of last week which is also up from the 8 a day we have been averaging the last month or two... yikes! I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!" RE: Chickens and Eggs - pslamont - 01-27-2011 So what is my egg-issue for the day? GIANT egg!! We have gotten a lot of really small eggs this week and I imagine my pullets are just beginning to lay. On the other hand, some beautiful Rhode Island Red has dropped a gigantic egg. What fun! I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!" RE: Chickens and Eggs - Sniper Steve - 01-28-2011 Sounds like your having some fun over there pslamont. I'm a big fan of the Rhode Island Reds and will be stocking my yard with them. How long did it take for your RR's to start laying from them being chicks? Love those large brown egg. Take care, Steve RE: Chickens and Eggs - pslamont - 01-28-2011 Steve, it took around 5 months for the new chicks to grow up and lay eggs. And yes, I am having a ball... city kid in the country like a kid in a candy store! I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!" RE: Chickens and Eggs - Sniper Steve - 01-28-2011 WoW! 5 months isn't bad for the first egg's. It's been years since I've had any birds. Had a few when I was a teen. Love the RR's and those brown eggs. I'm also going to have some meats birds. Just enough to fill my freezer for the year. I hate having meat birds around and butchering them one at a time. To much work for just a couple of birds. Better to grow a bunch all at once and then process them and freeze them. The egg layer's get to tuff as they get older. Good for smoking, but not as good as a meat bird. Where are you buying your feed from? Are you getting a organic or just the regular old basic chicken feed? Thanks for the info. Enjoy your fun with your Chick's Take care, Steve RE: Chickens and Eggs - silverpenny10 - 01-30-2011 Pam, I have a friend looking for fertile RR eggs to hatch. Do you sell? If so, can you give pricing and info.? Mahalo. RE: Chickens and Eggs - pslamont - 01-30-2011 I have RR's but their rooster is not an RR. I was breeding the white leghorn male with the RR females to get golden sex links. Incubation gave mediocre results but I must admit I am overwhelmed in chickens right now. We have gone from 8 eggs a day to... let's see... 30 today! Yikes! Anyhow, sorry I don't have purebred RR eggs. I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!" RE: Chickens and Eggs - silverpenny10 - 02-02-2011 Mahalo, Pam. 30 eggs! From how many hens? Ours have stopped laying for some reason. RE: Chickens and Eggs - canhle - 02-03-2011 Pam, I have a bunch of egg cartons. Please contact me at the number starts with 345. canh Le |
