1. The above was posted a couple days ago under the kama'aina thread.
This post is from a member who consistently posts jokes and off-topic comments in response to threads on punaweb. He is accusing me of posting the thread for my own self amusement.
My post was not for amusement, but was in response to comments on several threads that I made me wonder what punaweb posters thought was kama'aina.
2. YES, John, I made a donation to punaweb through paypal and was happy to do so. I have received a lot of information and help from punaweb posters in the past and hope to give and receive more in the future.

I felt the need to read thru the entire Kama'aina thread first before I answered here. Without reading thru the aforementioned thread this thread can be taken out of context. Makes me wonder if that was your intention. This looks just like the racist post where one poster is allowed to start a post with the intention of doing nothing more than attacking another poster. Which is exactly what you have done. Why Rob allows these types of posts is beyond me. This post doesn't even have anything to do with Puna. But it his forum and he can do and allow what he wants. This post makes you look like nothing more than an elitist where you obviously feel the need to try and say that John is not allowed to his opinion. But you are entitled to yours!
In my opinion you just started another self-amusing thread. John has been on Punaweb and other forums since their beginnings and has helped numerous people here and on those other forums with his free advice and more than 2,500 posts. He doesn't hide behind a screen name, his office is in Kona, he doesn't work in Puna, so he has little or no vested interest in helping people here. You only have been helped by the Punaweb community so far and gave nothing in return but attacking some of those who helped you.
Geez lady, give it a break and quit being so sensitive to what others say on an Internet forum.

HD probably would have been smart to just let it go, but some of you seem to think that hazing new forum members is your job. Lots and lots of threads are started here that are just for amusement of some forum members, so John's comment was pretty off base. I do not really understand why some people here set themselves up as the Punaweb membership screening committee. I've seen new members join, all enthusiastic and happy to have found this forum, only to be chased off by caustic remarks and hypercritical posts. Where's the aloha, guys?

As a new member, I have been looking at the threads of "racist" joke, Don't ask Don't tell and the kamiana thread. The same voices seem to gang up on some members.
I have to say, it does seem unwelcoming especially with folks who seem to have a more progressive left of center view. If they are new to the forum these guys just go after the person. Which IMHO hawaiideborah has been gone after.
Re-reading the other threads, it seems mdd7000 went after her saying she was saying what could or could not be on punaweb, when it seems to me she clarified and was not saying that. Yet, on this thread konadave does say what is allowed on punaweb and mdd7000 has nothing to say about that. DanielP on this same thread is acting ike a moderator deciding what is trolling. Why call out hawaiideborah for this and not call out people who are really saying these things?
John Rabi went after hawaiideborah for being self ammusing. It was an unfriendly and mean post. I didn't find anything she said self amusing, but I do find many of the posts by John to be self amusing.
konadave, again the pious statements that because hawaiideborah called out the jokester John she is "elitist". What? Do you even know what elitist means?
So, all in all I don't know if I will continue much longer on punaweb.
I have lived here 13 years and thought I could connect with some like minded folks, but this attacking and ganging up doesn't appeal to me. I will hang around a bit to see what becomes of this thread.
Lastly, thank you csgray. It is encouraging to know at least one person is not going to back these guys in being bullies.
