Although tix are outta my budget at the moment, his show will be awesome I am sure. Saw him when I worked at the UA in LA. (Tix price = 0!!! ) and then again at the Greek in the late 80's

(I feel like my parents when I say = $100 to $250???? Are they smoking crack???)

grace slick was quoted as saying that rock and roll seniors - should not be onstage - I grin at that every time I attend a show headlined by some ones grandparents - often she is dead on

guitarists and piano players seem to have the staying power .......and how about mick still going strong - a real poster boy for prudent and selective drug use - grin

who would have thought........

Moody Blues!

Saw their first, US concert tour and recently, on tv. They were tremendous then and perhaps even better, more recently.

Saw Elton John last January on Oahu. It was a great show and he drew a crowd made up of all ages. I can now cross him off my list of old rockers I want to see before either they or I die. I am waiting for Billy Joel!

In the past five years, I've been fortunate enough to see Queen with Paul Rogers, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, Barry Manilow (it's a long story....), Bette Midler, Tony Bennett, Joan Baez and Judy Collins -- all were old enough to be grandparents, and all put on absolutely incredible shows. Paul sang for 3 hours straight, no break. Tina sang and danced (in 5" heels) down a moving catwalk suspended 30 feet above the audience, and actually out-danced her 20-something backup dancers. Queen literally had the Verizon Center rocking with their performance. Tony just sat on a stool and mesmerized the crowd into silence. All started on time with no drama, and no one lip synched....

I've also been to see some more current acts (Coldplay, John Mayer, Lil Wayne) and they were just OK in terms of performance and showmanship (showpersonship???), and in some cases, it was clear the "performers" weren't actually singing.

I saw Mick interviewed somewhere and he was asked how he can still do such a great show at his age. He said something to the effect of "We've been doing it for almost 50 years, so after a while you figure out what works and what doesn't..."

when Hot Tuna came through about 5 years ago they played the Mauna Lani, tickets were on the high side but not $50. Pretty good show but a small audience.
