Not sure where the population of the Red Road area from Kalapana through Seaview to Kapoho are shown. RE: HPP census - macuu222 - 02-24-2011 Amazing...HPP is practically the same size as Kailua Kona!! Now...all we we need is the same amount of money as they get RE: HPP census - csgray - 02-24-2011 Seeb, Where did you find the numbers? If you have a link I would love it if you posted it. Mahalo, Carol RE: HPP census - Kapohocat - 02-25-2011 quote: Yup. Where are we? RE: HPP census - csgray - 02-25-2011 Can this be a typo: Holualoa CDP 8,538? I don't know where that many people could be living there? Carol RE: HPP census - JerryCarr - 02-25-2011 Puna, with or without the perhaps missing Kapoho-Red Road numbers, is roughly equivalent to Hilo town (but probably not the North and South Hilo Districts) in population. That has the potential to drastically change the balance of power on the County Council, assuming that we get a fair redistricting process that does not gerrymander Puna. Someone correct my feeble math if this is wrong, but HPP has seen an increase in population of 62% in 10 years. (7051 in 2000 vs. 11,404 in 2010) This should make it harder for the County to continue to neglect us, but also creates a responsibility on our part to be engaged and make coherent, consistent demands for improved services and infrastructure. Both sides have a long way to go to meet their obligations. RE: HPP census - Carey - 02-25-2011 Carol, that is on the census data for Holualoa... The highest percentage growth is for HOV in Kau with a growth of 103.7%. and the third high # growth with 2,259 new residents, HPP is the highest # growth with 4,353 new residents, but is 6th for percentage growth, with 'only' 61.7% growth Hilo is the second highest # growth with 2,504 Even Kapa`a had a 49.6% growth rate! For those without the census2010.gov link, the numbers are on the front page of the Tib-Herald. RE: HPP census - Seeb - 02-25-2011 http://factfinder2.census.gov/main.html I dont think adding these numbers will give you all of Puna you have to do it by census tracts. i haent figured that out yet, the web site is confusing |
