2-nd grade project - Alex - 02-10-2011 I happened to see a project for a second grader to provide a family history and calculate the % of" Hawaiian blood" (that's how it was explained to me).It looked like family album. But on the top was the circle with colored segments for the different ethnicity/race running in the family. That second grader didn't have much Hawaiian blood, something like 10%. I didn't have a chance to ask more about the project . Good to know your family history but this Hawaiian blood percentage.. Any teachers or parents familiar with this? RE: 2-nd grade project - dugger - 02-10-2011 You know, it can be a legal issue. I don't see anything wrong with it anyway. RE: 2-nd grade project - dmbwest - 02-10-2011 Alex, just wondering, what school was this affiliated with ? Personally, I think its a Bad, no STUPID thing to bring stuff like this ( race difference ) to the attention of this new generation. aloha, pog edit to add .. Holding back ona rant. RE: 2-nd grade project - Carey - 02-10-2011 Not knowing which school, or island... Kamehameha Kapalama campus has a very competitive 4th grade admission that includes sending in the final 2nd grade report card & admissions testing in third grade.... perhaps this is info is gather for students that may be considered for competing for one of the few 4th grade positions??? RE: 2-nd grade project - Alex - 02-10-2011 I don't know the school.I just briefly met this person in Hilo,"hi and by" situation. RE: 2-nd grade project - Alex - 02-10-2011 The "race" and "Hawaiian blood" -those words I heard. But I didn't take a good look.Just remember a "Filipino" segment.May be the parent made a mistake saying "race". |
