Any HMSA Dr's Taking New Patients?? - PunaPaula - 01-11-2007
Aloha,
Has anyone in Puna/Hilo area been recently accepted by an HMSA doc as a new patient? We have finally made it here and are now searching for a doc so I thought it might save some time to ask the question first.
Mahalo for any input on the subject.

Our insurance just started 1/7...we'll be going to Keaau Bay Clinic (as I have had much experience with the Pahoa Bay Clinic and will avoid it like the plague)...Dr. Brown is at both. We will have to look at the list of doctors, 'cause I'm not nuts about the clinic thing...you get whoever is working that day.

Mahalo for the info Carrie. It sounds like you just call for an appointment and they give you whatever doc is available? It doesn't really matter to us at this point, as long as we have someone to write our prescriptions
.I'll check it out....and would appreciate any other suggestions out there.

I go to Dr. Lorraine Sonoda-Fogel at Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi at 45 Mohouli Street in Hilo, same building as the urgent care center. She has just taken in a new partner, so may be taking new patients. Couldn't hurt to ask. Phone number is 961-2609
