Concrete driveways--joints? - hotinhawaii - 03-05-2011 Anyone have experience pouring or having a concrete driveway poured? I am specifically wondering about the need for stress joints in a driveway on a slope and is about 80x10'. Do there have to be joints or at least scored lines? How often? How deep? Is it standard practice to do this? RE: Concrete driveways--joints? - topograph - 03-05-2011 Concrete will naturally crack in roughtly square sections; the joints are put in to control the locations. Since your driveway is 10' wide, you would tool joints every 10', to a depth of approximately a 1/4 of the concrete thickness. David Ninole Resident RE: Concrete driveways--joints? - DanielP - 03-05-2011 4" slab: 9'x9' square. 10' wide: score down the middle and across 8' o.c. 1 1/2" deep. Within 24 hrs.
