aromatic Pandan - Pandanus amarylliis & Red Ginger - Carey - 04-01-2011

I have a very large Pandan that is doing the Little Shop of Horrors "Amanda" takeover of a corner of my garden. I need to trim it next week, as it is overtaking my grapefruit, and was wondering if anyone wants some clippings to root.

The leaves & essence of the Pandan are used in SE Asian cooking for a subtle flavoring for chicken & rice dishes.

Let me know when, and I'll come by with the old guy! This will go well with my Asian spices part of the garden!

And if you have time, can you show him your mosiacs?

Cat, You are picked! (most anythime is good, SB can stop by on the way to/from Hilo sometime - will be thinning out some by Wed, as I am taking some to class that night)

we have a lot, so can pick many others too
(we have ~160 sq ft covered in Pandan.... and only want a little ... it really got out of control in 5 years....)

If you need a link for ideas on what to do with Pandan leaves:

Well, I will get out & thin some now, as it looks like the 'winter' storm with choke rain may be a-creepin' in....

ETA: Well, I've trimmed out about 1/4th of the Pandan plot.... did I mention these were Keaau Pandan... ie. really big.... most cuttings are taller than me....
I will clean up the ones I have trimmed out.... still have more to trim.... if anyone want

ETAA: also have choke red ginger that I trimmed out.... & cassava (thread re; the strain I have:http://www.punaweb.org/Forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11207
