Proud New Mommy :) - pslamont - 01-21-2007 I am the proud new mommy of three baby goats, aged 5 weeks. I get to bottle feed them, they cry Maaaaaa Maaaaaaaa, are soft, sleep outdoors and I don't have to start a college fund. This is great! LOL Just another day in P A R A D I S E !! RE: Proud New Mommy :) - Crizzy - 01-21-2007 Congratulations, Pam! RE: Proud New Mommy :) - JerryCarr - 01-21-2007 Aloha, Pam, This brings back fond memories of growing up on the ranch in Texas. Along with 1200 cattle, we had 300 Angora goats. One of my jobs was to bottle feed the orphans and abandoned kids. They all had personalities, and got quite hard for me to handle as they approached adulthood. What sort of goats are yours? Cheers, Jerry RE: Proud New Mommy :) - canhle - 01-22-2007 [Pam, Sounds like you are having a great time. Plus, you also don't have to worry about the empty nest syndrome. :-)] I am the proud new mommy of three baby goats, aged 5 weeks. Lenny RE: Proud New Mommy :) - oink - 01-22-2007 Barbeque goat, yum! S. FL Islander to be RE: Proud New Mommy :) - pslamont - 01-23-2007 We are making great progress witht the babies. They should have been weaned down to two feedigs a day before now so we have managed that well. The suppposedly finecky one is eating just fine and they are not only on their two bottles/twice a day but are starting to enjoy timothy hay. Until they are reaty to become good grazers outright, this s a great pattern. I feed them early in the morning then put out a bucket with hay, minerals, sweet stuff and some other goat-ie stuff.. they have that to nibble for the day. By dinner time they rae READY for bottles again and with full warm tummies settle down quickly in their night pen in the garage. The dogs are doing really well with them. Gumbo just kind of wanders around them. Spike started out agressively herding them but a few quick and solid admoishments has calmed him down. He still herds them but slowly and gently. When they are in their pen (a 20x20x20 foot triangle) Spike hands out by the fence and they touch noses. Looks like a match made in heaven... well, at least now while the goats and dogs are all about the same size. It will be ineresting to see what happens as the goats grow. Off I go for the evening. Enjoy! Pam Just another day in P A R A D I S E !! RE: Proud New Mommy :) - Nate SC - 01-24-2007 You had me at "No College Fund". RE: Proud New Mommy :) - MissAlii - 01-24-2007 Aloha Pam, How are your goats doing? I have two pygmy goats that I have had since they were 10 weeks old. Lucy and Ethel!! They are so much fun. They will be a year old in February.Even though I did not bottlefeed they are VERY bonded to me. I will be bringing them with me when I move to Hawaii. You are really going to enjoy having them Aloha, Kelly RE: Proud New Mommy :) - jade - 01-26-2007 Hey Pam, What kind of goats are they? Are they boys or girls? |
