Dentist for the dentaphobe? - DTisme - 06-05-2011 Can anyone recommend a dentist in the area for someone who has a dentist phobia? RE: Dentist for the dentaphobe? - wecelli - 06-05-2011 Aloha, my dentist is Dr.Keith K Yamakawa, 1166 Kinoole st. Hilo, Hi 808-969-3332 Best dentist I have ever had. He is friendly, very personable and honest. He and his staff have taken great care of my teeth. 5 out of 5 stars as far as I am concerned. RE: Dentist for the dentaphobe? - Lin W - 06-05-2011 I know you feel. I have a pathological fear of dentists; don’t go until there’s absolutely no other option. A few years ago I had a problem and went to Dr. John Stover on Kinoole. He’s a dentist and MD. He used IV sedation and I felt/remembered nothing. It was expensive but worth it to me. I see an ad once in awhile that sounds like he’s more into cosmetic surgery now, don’t know if he still does any dentistry, but couldn’t hurt to call and ask. Good luck. blessed are the cracked for they let in the light RE: Dentist for the dentaphobe? - lquade - 06-06-2011 969-3830 ask for dr. quade. because he is a "dentaphobe" himself (yes a dentist who is afraid of dentists!) he is more than gentle. lots of people had bad experiences as children and never really lose their fear of dental treatment but a few good experiences can change your mind..maybe... mine is IVs hate hate hate ivs. RE: Dentist for the dentaphobe? - DTisme - 06-06-2011 Much mahalo!! Many a time I have fainted in the dentist's chair! RE: Dentist for the dentaphobe? - DTisme - 06-06-2011 @lquade -- googled the ph # and it comes up as Michael A. Clarke, DDS's ofc in Hilo. Is Quade in that office? Googling "Quade, DDS" finds a Ronald B. Quade at Keaau Family Health Ctr. Does he work in both ofcs? (btw, can't help but notice YOU'RE a Quade - related?) -- one of my favorite dentists over the years had been a dentaphobe himself, so I might want to pursue this. Also, thanks @wecelli for Dr Yamakawa, great recommendation there! I also want a dentist who is conservative about what work to do. RE: Dentist for the dentaphobe? - lquade - 06-06-2011 yes in hilo he works at dr. clarks office. no longer in keaau but in kona and also kapaa (kauai) but thats a long trip...[] RE: Dentist for the dentaphobe? - rmelzig - 06-23-2011 Moved to Pahoa from mainland last Fall. Looking for a general dentist comfortable with high-tech work & who can give solid references to an oral surgeon and prosthodontist. Already have several jawbone implants, all sorts of crowns thereon, and may need more. Certainly need - and am late for - routine maintenance. Rick Melzig RE: Dentist for the dentaphobe? - pslamont - 06-23-2011 I had some work from Dr. Quade. Can't say enough good. Calm, gentle and knows his stuff inside out. He can put you at ease like no other.... (from another dentophobe). I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!" |
