Doesn't look like there is enough wind in Puna. Looks like it would be good for South Point or Hawi. Seems its always windy in Hawi.

If you are serious about using a wind generator, you might use the 50 meter map on the same site as your focus, because the above mentioned one is more outdated than their current map. 100 meter would be one tall expensive tower!

Too bad Puna is not investigating offhore windpower or wave action power, those seem like some possibilities to look into also.

I heard you can only erect the windmill as high as you have perimeter on your property. And that's the law. If so those planners thought of everything.

Could you please explain what you mean by "as high as you have perimeter on your property"?

Thanks!

Your windmill collapsing because of some natural disaster or the base wasn't so robust is disaster enough but if it landed on your neighbor's property because you ran out of space on your side is compounding your problem. I heard there's law that addreses this though- makes sense to me.

Hmmmm, How do the installers of cell phone towers get abound that law then?? Here in HPP the one acre lots are 130' or 135'(can't remember) but the cell tower on 13th between Paradise and Maku'u is tall enough to fall out side the parameter of the property line.

Your 50 foot tall windmill needs to be over 50 feet away from your property line.

Thanks, yes it makes sense.

That's how I understood it.

I can't explain cell towers but I rather have free wifi!! But I just thought I heard on the radio that you needed setback on on your property. Maybe somebody knows know more about it.
