Does anyone know what this is about? - csgray - 07-27-2011 http://honolulu.craigslist.org/big/for/2517113276.html The ad says beware of white van with 4 men selling Kirby vacuums in HPP/Puna. They were on our street a few weeks ago here in HPP, but didn't seem to be doing anything blatantly illegal, but did seem a little off somehow. Carol RE: Does anyone know what this is about? - Jay Bondesen - 07-27-2011 Not sure if it's related but a couple of months ago in Leilani we had a van with a Kirby sign on it dropping off two women who went house to house offering a cleaning service. Two houses were missing small items after letting the women look around the house to give an estimate. It was discussed at the neighborhood watch meeting. Jay RE: Does anyone know what this is about? - JerryCarr - 07-27-2011 This has been reported to HPP Neighborhood Watch on at least three previous occasions as suspicious. The reports I received indicated mixed gender groups of two or three. They would let someone (usually female, IIRC) out of the car while the other one approached the house supposedly to sell vacuum cleaners. While the sales pitch was going on, the other(s) would be observed moving through the bushes and looking over the property and neighboring properties. One woman was described as hiding at the end of the driveway. This was noted in the dead ends off Makuu and elsewhere near the shore. In at least one instance, the whole group quickly left the neighborhood when a NW member asked the stragglers if they needed directions or help. Seems shady, but I don't know of any crimes directly attributable to these people. RE: Does anyone know what this is about? - EightFingers - 07-28-2011 Why was the post flagged for removal? |
