Domino's Pizza - macuu222 - 08-18-2011 Since pizza has been a revolving topic on punaweb for sometime... I just thought people might want to know that Domino's Pizza is having a special $5.99 one topping medium size pizza special. RE: Domino's Pizza - hikatz - 08-19-2011 Do you have to order online to get that price, or is it a in store special? Very rarely buy pizza as it usually not very good. But the last time we had a Domino's pizza, it wasn't bad! RE: Domino's Pizza - macuu222 - 08-19-2011 I saw it advertised on a local TV station (for a limited time). Not sure how long that limited time is or whether the $5.99 price on Oahu will be the same here on the Big Island. And yes I agree..Dominos isn't as bad as it use to be...and it's certainly better than Pizza Hut RE: Domino's Pizza - Sniper Steve - 08-19-2011 The deal is $5.99 for a two topping medium and you must order two or more. This is a carry out special and no deliveries. You might want to ask about the $7.99 Larger three topping carry out special also. It run's mon-wed and there isn't a minum of two. You can order one or more. This is what's been running for a while here on the mainland. Yes, I work for Domino's and no! I won't be opening a chain store in Pahoa. Been working for them for a while now and they take to much of the profits. Also, Chicken and Phillie meat is rated as a double topping. Just a heads up so you don't fine out the hard way and get into a fight over the phone or at the Hilo store. Enjoy, Steve RE: Domino's Pizza - dmbwest - 08-19-2011 Thanks Steve, Add one dollar for Big Island ( vs. oahu ) ????? always fun twist too ! You work out of Hilo ? Den you know us : ) aloha, pog RE: Domino's Pizza - Sniper Steve - 08-20-2011 No problem pog. It's a good special and the pizza isn't bad. I know our store. We make sure everything looks and taste good. Some other stores, that isn't the case. No, I'm not at the Hilo store. I was thinking about maybe a transfer, but I'm really thinking about opening my own place sometime next year. Will see. Domino's takes to much of the profits. I help my buddy run his place. We are all pretty much Ex military or college students. Domino's get's a 10% cut off the top. Last year we grossed 1.3 million and our sales are up about 20-30%. Affordable pizza sells. You are also forced to buy all their products. Sometime they ship us stuff that is about to expire in a couple of days. I hate that and we have to call in for a credit and then where short an item. Any ways, Domino's has some great deals and I'm not knocking them. I'm not forking over 130,000 just to use their name and be forced to buy all there product at their set prices. OH! there is a lunch special also. 11-2, small 2 topping pizzs, sandwich, or paste dish for $5.00 bucks. Might want to check that one out if your in town for lunch. Well, didn't want to jack the tread. Just wanted to give a little in sight about Domino's. The $5.99 deal is great for large families, party's, etc. Later, Steve RE: Domino's Pizza - John S. Rabi - 08-20-2011 quote:Steve, I have been in F&B for 25 years and I understand what you are saying, but that is the franchise deal, same with every franchise in every business. All you need to figure out is if you open a no-name pizza place, will you have $1.3M gross revenues? Aloha, John S. (This is what I think of the Kona Board of Realtors http://KonaBoardOfRealtors.info) RE: Domino's Pizza - Sniper Steve - 08-20-2011 Hey John, yes, I know all about the agreements, etc. Another thing about owning and running a franchise. Is, that I have to follow their rules and get inspected every 6 months. No one is going to tell me how to run my place. I've worked Pizza Hut for a full year my JR year of high school. I've worked a year and a half my senior year at a chain called Hungry Howies. I ran my buddies place "Spanky's Pizza" for 5-6 years as a day manger/cook. I've been working Domino's for 2.6 years. Helping my buddy that owns the place. Training insider's and drivers to fill empty openings. My best years is when I ran my buddies place that was a mom and pop's type place. I know what your saying. As for grossing 1.3 million in Pahoa. I don't think that will happen. Money isn't everything. I'd rather make killer pizza and sides and keep everyone happen with the product and pricing, but I think if I was to open a store. As long as the location was good and I could keep the overhead down. I could kill it there. I make everything fresh in the morning. Dough, sauce, shred cheese, etc. With the pizza, calzones, stromboli's, wings and sides. It would only take word of mouth. Plus, not having people wait 2 hours for a damn carryout. I know what needs to be done and how to do it. I'm not after being rich. Just happy making the pie's and paying the bills. Guess, I took this thread off course. Sorry. Steve RE: Domino's Pizza - punafish - 08-20-2011 I look forward to giving "Sniper Steve's Pizzeria" a try someday! If you consistently execute the way you described above, I'll be a regular customer and send many others your way. I only ask that you don't learn how to make a tasty Chicago deep dish pie, as I'd be there everyday--a tad heavier than the day before. It's a guilty pleasure I've given up since moving here from Chicago 5 years ago, and I absolutely don't need or want the temptation. Show us how it's done Steve, this town could use some inspired pizza! RE: Domino's Pizza - John S. Rabi - 08-20-2011 quote:That's the secret of a successful restaurant. Most people opening a restaurant have no clue about it, just watch the "Restaurant Redone(?)" on the Food Channel to see the horror stories. Aloha, John S.
